DESCRIPTION

A long-sleeve henley in cream white - smooth cotton, relaxed crew fit, three-button placket: the garment in its most reduced form. The three buttons are not functional; neodymium magnets in the interlining beneath them close on contact and release with a single pull. Adaptive and invisible. Wear it under an open shirt, alone on a warm evening, or as the first layer in a coat - the cream white henley has no wrong context, and this one asks nothing from your hands to put on.

Design intent

The henley is the most functional version of a crew-neck shirt: a neckline that opens enough to pull on easily without requiring a full collar or button placket. The AbleCove Classic Henley removes the last friction point in the design - fastening the three small neckline buttons. The magnets in the interlining do what the buttons always promised: they close the neckline the moment the two sides meet, and let it go the moment you pull.

Design inspiration

The henley shirt takes its name from the rowing town of Henley-on-Thames, where it was worn as a collarless undershirt by rowers competing in the 19th-century regattas. The cream white version references the original: the undershirt worn beneath a work jacket or sporting coat, now stripped of that supporting role and worn on its own terms.

Craft details

The Shell is 100% cotton at medium weight - the combing process removes short fibres before spinning, producing a yarn with a smoother hand. The fit is a relaxed straight cut and a hem that finishes at the hip, proportioned for both tucked and untucked wear. Ribbed double-layer cuffs with no closure. The magnets in a reinforced double-layer interlining behind the three neckline buttons. All magnet units are heat-welded before panel assembly and rated through 200+ wash cycles.
