Design intent

The leather jacket occupies a specific position in a wardrobe: heavier than a shirt, lighter than a structured jacket, layerable over anything from a tee to a mid-layer knit. What it has never had, until now, is a closure that works independently of hand strength or fine motor coordination - and a shell that carries the visual and tactile character of full-grain leather without animal hide. The Explorer resolves both in a single garment.

Design inspiration

The leather shirt jacket as a form has roots in the working outerwear of the mid-twentieth century - a layer worn by ranchers, pilots, and field workers who needed something between a shirt and a coat, in a material durable enough to last years of daily use. The silhouette the Explorer follows is the simplest version of that form: one back yoke seam, clean body panels, a collar that lies flat, pockets that sit at the hand. The saddle brown is chosen for the same reason that color has always been chosen for working leather: it shows the history of wear honestly and uniquely.

The shell is a high-density vegan leather base with a wax pull-up, producing the tonal variation characteristic. The silhouette is a relaxed cut with a single horizontal back yoke seam and clean, uninterrupted front and back body panels. Two horizontal welt pockets sit at hip level. The magnetic closure system sets neodymium magnets in a reinforced double-layer interlining directly behind the decorative button row on the full front placket and cuffs. Adaptive and invisible. All magnet units are heat-welded into encapsulated woven pockets before panel assembly, rated through thousands of open-close cycles without field degradation.
